Hero Opportunities

There are so many opportunities to be a saint at Enon UMC. Here are some of the ways you can be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

Circles of Clark County
The National Circles™ Campaign is an initiative that engages communities in joining with low-income families to find paths out of poverty. The Campaign, in its pilot phase, plans to join with 50 communities to support 1000 families out of poverty and to document the challenges and victories of this process. The stories and research from this initiative will be used to inspire and equip national, state, and community leaders to expand their local and national intention and capacity for reducing and, eventually, eliminating poverty. Based on the results, leaders from across the nation can design a new, coherent, and powerful social contract between hard-working families, local communities, and government. The new contract can accelerate solutions to reducing and ending poverty in the United States. For more information contact Heather Seelig at heather@thinktank-inc.org or (937) 727-9115.

Enon Emergency Relief (EER)
The Enon Emergency Relief was incorporated as a not for profit organization in July 1962. The stated purpose of the organization is “to furnish and give such aid as is necessary for the immediate preservation of human life and welfare arising from emergency situations within Enon and the adjacent territory.” Since then the EER has continued to grow and to provide “one stop” service for emergency relief and referrals to the people of the Greenon School District. The organization is staffed entirely by non-paid volunteers. Enon UMC provides funding, food, and volunteer support. Contact Jerry Bennett at (937) 864-2213 to help out or for more information.

Fellowship Meal
3rd Sunday Lunch: Every 3rd Sunday of the month we will have a fellowship lunch after the 2nd Worship Service. There will be a food sign-up sheet each month in the Lobby. Servants are needed to prepare food items, help with set-up, clean-up and meal planning. Contact Pastor Karen (937-206-7830) for information.

Festival of Sharing
This is one way we can help and provide essential items to persons here in Ohio or as far away as Africa! One such way is School Bags for children. There is fabric and instructions for making the school bags in the Hospitality room at the church. Every August and September we collect items to fill these bags. Place filled bags or items on the table in the Hospitality Room.

Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities
The nursing homes and assisted living facilities are full of LONESOME people. A visit doesn't have to be long to be appreciated. Of course, there are also people who live alone in their homes who are lonesome and love visits, phone calls and mail.

Day Spring and The Emeritus at Fox Run are two options. If you are interested in this, please contact Pastor Karen (937-206-7830)

This is a ministry of the Springfield Initiative, a partnership of seven United Methodist churches in the Springfield area.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC)
Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is the largest children's Christmas project in the world, run by the Christian charity Samaritan's Purse. In 2010, OCC celebrate 20 years of this special shoebox appeal, which has already brought joy into the lives of over 80 million children worldwide. In its simplest form, it is all about a gift – given by you to a child in need.

Shoeboxes will be on the table in the lobby or the Hospitality Room starting in October with brochures and instructions. Help your children experience the joy of giving and sharing by letting them choose items to pack in a shoebox. These shoeboxes will go to children who need to know that someone cares and that God loves them. Contact Lin Tranter (864-1578 or 864-5715) for information.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls and other items are handmade and given to individuals in need of God’s healing love. There are two groups that get together monthly – day and evening. Stop by one or more of the sessions for fellowship, information about the ministry, supplies or instructions.

Afternoon: Tuesday, August 10th from 2-4 pm in the Hospitality Room
Evening: Monday, August 23rd from 7-? pm in Room 1

Pre-Service Prayer

Worship Outreach at The Emeritus at Fox Run
Enon UMC will be holding Sunday Worship services at Fox Run starting September 5th at 2:00 pm. Volunteer opportunities include: greeting the residents, scripture reading, prayer, preaching, music, singing, and supporting the worship service with your presence. The plan is to set up a schedule for volunteers to help one specific Sunday each month or every other month, depending on the number of people interested; however you may participate as often as you want. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please contact Darwin Teilhet (878-1133).
